lifeAssist is at the forefront of delivering innovative services to meet the needs of our clients.  We have been a strong advocate for the Consumer Directed Care model, believing that no-one knows the needs of a client better than the client themselves.  Our role is to help clients achieve the goals which are important to them.

Clients receiving in-home supports from lifeAssist are able to live independently in their own homes for up to three years longer than the national average. 

We see the provision of superior case management and care co-ordination, coupled with our Consumer Directed model as being the key to delivering the best results for our clients.

Home Care Packages (Level 1, 2, 3 and 4)

Government-funded Home Care Packages provide older people with the in-home supports necessary to remain living independently in their own homes. Packages range from Level 1 for those who have only basic care needs, through to Level 4 for people with high-level needs.

Supports may include things like bathing or dressing, personal mobility, laundry, cleaning, gardening, transport, nursing or allied health and much more.

Whatever Home Care Package level you have, Case Management and Care Co-ordination by experienced professionals provides a more holistic approach in any care plan. This ensures that the in-home supports in place meet all current needs, achieve all goals and address any changing needs over time.

Our consultants provide our clients with all available options at every stage.

COSTS:  As not-for-profit providers, lifeAssist is able to genuinely minimise our costs to clients without having to compromise the quality of the service. Our promise to our clients is to provide the very best level of care available. To do this we:

  • Are totally flexible to meet the individual needs and requests of every client
  • Provide every client with all possible options available to them
  • Treat all clients as partners, with respect and total transparency
  • Provide these services at the lowest possible cost

Whilst the Commonwealth Government recommends service providers charge a Basic Daily Care Fee, we do not charge this fee.

CONTROL: All lifeAssist Home Care Package clients choose how much involvement they want us to have in managing their package and supports. We recognise that some clients want to have greater control, while others may need more assistance from our consultants. Our clients are always in control.  After all, it's their package.

When is it time to think about supports, and how much will they cost?

These are two of the most common questions. For many people, it's the little things which gradually start to become difficult. At what point is it time to start considering options for in-home support services?

mylifeAssist (Self-funded Services)

We recognise that not everyone wants a Government-funded Home Care Package.  Some people may not be eligible for a package, or may be waiting for a suitable Home Care Package to become available. Others may only want services for a short period of time, or may need a few extra services which their package may not be able to fund.

Quick Response Service*

We provide short-term, in-home care support following a ‘trigger’ event such as an accident or illness. Help can be arranged within 48 hours and is based around your needs. Read more about our Quick Response Service (pdf) or contact us.


Homeshare is for people who live in their own homes who need need companionship and help with household chores. Homeshare matches people with a Homesharer, who provides assistance. Read more on our Homeshare brochure (pdf) or contact us.

Hospital Admission Risk Program*

Housing Support for the Aged**

If you are over 50 and having issues with your public housing, we can help. We help improve the health and wellbeing of older people in situations where issues like frailty, mental illness, alcohol and substance abuse, or chronic health problems put the security of people’s housing at risk. *lifeAssist is funded by Government to deliver these programs in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne only. **Housing Support for the Aged is available only within the municipalities of Boroondara, Monash and Whitehorse. 

Carer Wellbeing

If you are a carer of an older person and live in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, we can support you to maintain your own wellbeing. This can include help with future/short-term planning, practical home help, giving you the time take a short break from your caring role or the opportunity to meet other people in a similar caring role.

We offer short-term or longer term support based on your needs.  If you are caring for an elderly parent or grandparent, we take time to understand their complex needs, including the needs of people with alzheimer's and/or dementia.

The My Aged Care website has been established by the Australian Government to help you navigate the aged care system. My Aged Care is part of the Australian Government’s changes to the aged care system which have been designed to give people more choice, more control and easier access to a full range of aged care services.
