High-quality refurbished tech for people with disability

Disability clients of UnitingCare lifeAssist can now purchase high quality refurbished technology, along with computer software and support services in a new pilot program.

lifeAssist have partnered with South Australian based Connecting Up in this pilot. lifeAssist was hand-picked by Connecting Up as the only Victorian partner organisation for this pilot program.

Connecting Up, through arrangements with companies including Microsoft, Adobe and Symantec, have traditionally provided donated and discounted computer software and hardware to other not-for-profit organisations.  

For the first time ever, these same deals are now available to direct to the disability community. Initially, this offer is only available to lifeAssist's disability clients, including carers of people with disability, although it is hoped to open this up to the entire disability community shortly.

In a joint statement, lifeAssist and Connecting Up have said:  "Access to high quality, low-cost technology has been identified as major need of the disability community.  This is more important now than ever before with the roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme."

All computers will be delivered through Reboot-IT, one of Australia's leading suppliers of refurbished computers and laptops, working directly with global companies including IBM, Dell and Acer.
